Foreword: Buffy &
Dawn are in deep trouble. "From Beneath, It Devours" - the apparent
non-
material First Evil has begun appearing in various forms of past
entities. And
has progressed to finding how to manipulate the living at times.
Faced with worldwide annihilation of good, Dawn is suddenly offered Hobson's
Choice
by a visitor from her past. After some trepidation, she accepts.
With that, the obviously pregnant Dawn announces that she's the new
host
of Glory
and became pregnant by Glory's manipulation - parthenogenesis. To
Buffy's surprise,
Dawn develops ever increasing superpowers as the 5 week pregnancy proceeds
to
term. To birth a new god body for Glory.
Glory repeatedly morphs out of Dawn and enthusiastically declares her affection,
much to Buffy's dismay. A new type demon arrives from the in-between place
where
Buffy was after her tower swan dive. Along with the mysterious little demon
Curupira.
Willow has reservations about the whole scheme, not trusting the apparently
naive,
but sly, Curupira. And definitely not the whole scheme involving
Dawn & Glory.
Buffy cannot argue that an nearly fully empowered Glory, quick grown
from a baby
to adult size magically, offers them a fighting chance at survival.

Part 1: "Dawn,
Are You Pregnant?"
"From beneath, It devours. Unless I help."
Dawn pulled at her sheet and bunched up covers
fitfully in the near darkness.
"Who...who...said that?" she mumbled, half awake
now. She opened her eyes
and looked around.
The nearest street light outside cast a pattern of light and shadow through the sheers.
No one.
"Dream," she said, half-aloud.
"Not exactly, Sweetie," the familiar voice came
again to her ears.
Close by.
She turned her head on the pillow.
Her heart sped up a bit and she felt the adrenaline
of fear - yet not fear - perhaps some sort
of excitement welling up inside her. Dawn slid
her hand under the mattress on her right side
and scooped out a naked dagger in a surprisingly
fast motion.
The blade reflected the streetlight as she slid
it across her bare belly.
It was cold.
"Better than a phone," she assured herself in a whisper.
"Maybe," the familiar female voice said," But
you'll need more than that when The Time
comes, sweetie-pie," the voice sounded amused.
"Crap," Dawn clinched the wood of the dagger's
handle tightly, remembering her prior
experiences. Her mind raced.."I know...that ...voice..."
"...Glory!" her heart began racing.
"Glory...you're supposed to be dead?" a question now.
"Can't kill a god, Dawnie...remember Ben saying
that in the alley when I was seducing
him with the promise of resurrection and immortality?"
Glory's voice filled Dawn's head.
"Told you that us girls, you and me, wear our
bodies like clothes."
The voice had a hint of laughter in it, "Guess what I'm wearing now...?"
"Me?" Dawn guessed.
Dawn wasn't skeptical.
'Cause it made an ironic, twisted sense.
Alone of the gang, she'd experienced Glory opening
up to her during her captivity.
Because neither was born of a woman.
And that was a rather rare rarity.
Then Glory had shut down abruptly and called her a thing, not one of 'us girls'.
"We have a real time ahead of us this go-around,
Dawnie," Glory's voice
was definitely showing laughter now. "Couldn't
let the Key go that easily. It
was my Plan-B all along. The anointing and all
that close to you talking. "
"So I could use you as a host in case things went
wrong. "A god can't be too
careful these days." her voice moved to contemplative.
"Even me."
Dawn absorbed this, wondering whether she should call out for Buffy.
"Not yet," Glory said. "I can share your thoughts
and see what you see...all that
touch stuff too. But being in a girl makes it
easier than being in Ben. Took half his
life before I could morph out of the darkness...poor
ole Ben..."
Though Dawn thought Glory didn't sound too broken-hearted about it.
"So," Dawn extemporized, not sure about what to
do. Her worst undreamt
nightmare was realized, it dawned on her at that
moment. She was having trouble
with the concept of what it meant to be the host
of the not-so-miraculously not-dead
Glory.
"Let's put the little knife away, Dawnie," Glory
took control of Dawn's right hand.
Dawn watched in fascination as her hand moved
without her willing it.
"Also took time, 'cause I didn't want to hurt
you in the process, a Key being a
precious...umm...person," Glory avoided using
'thing'. "Our destinies are
intertwined again."
Dawn tried to move, but Glory had taken control
of her limbs, though nothing else
was affected. She hoped. "You can talk, but not
too loudly. Sorry, "Glory said
soothingly.
A word Dawn wasn't aware Glory had had in her vocabulary.
"Be real quiet, "Glory continued in a soft, reassuring
voice. "I gotta be real careful
for this first morph...don't fight it..."
Dawn reality suddenly fell apart as she was seemingly turned inside out!
"You OK in there? "Glory said very softly. Feeling
her natural body form for the
first time in almost two human years. "Nice camisole.
A bit tight for me, though...
but soft..." Glory felt for Dawn's other sleeping
ware. A pair of loose spankey pants
she apparently slept in.
"Ugh. These some of your Mom's old old ones?"
Glory thoughtlessly remarked as
she fingered the elastic. Dawn was shaken by
the transition of many of her senses
and didn't react to the remark.
Glory did something and now Dawn could see
and hear better. But not control?
"Help?" she croaked as Glory let her gain some
control over their physical voice
for a second.
Then took it away.
"There," Glory said aloud. "That's why I'm here,
Dawnie. To help you," Glory slid
off the bed and went to the dresser. Dawn was
now aware first hand that Glory
could see in the dark as if it were daylight.
"You got my body to morph out of," Dawn said inside
Glory, hearing her voice through
Glory's senses. The nuances and depth of the
sounds were amazing. Godly ears and all.
"What else?" Dawn decided to be passive for the
moment. Not piss off Glory.
Who seemed in a good mood as she examined herself
in the mirror. While Dawn
watched through Glory's eyes.
She followed Glory preening in the mirror,
then start brushing her long reddish hair
happily.
"Long time inside you," Glory said conversationally
as she leaned over
to flop her hair in front of her so she could
brush underneath. "Not able to do much
except think about all my mistakes and pushing
on you a bit."
"Bit of growing up for me," she admitted.
"Like you did. Liked that vamp slain from underneath
thing you did, and still keep
hiding. Ever wonder why?"
Dawn had to ask.
"'Cause I wouldn't let you. You got spunk, Dawnie,
but a short-lived Slayer you ain't.
No future in that in this world now that it's
only you and your sister and that Faith one
left to stick your fingers in the dike. They
sure died easily for some reason. Kinda
suspicious, doncha think?"
Dawn could've cared less.
So she replied, "Cartoon wannabes. But I should've
been...."
"... and you left out Willow and Giles," she quickly moved on past herself.
"Giles killed Ben. He's gonna die for that mistake,
" Glory said flatly.
"As is the witch-bitch," she added. "She's not
a very nice ... whatever..."
Her voice trailed away as she felt Dawn silently
resisting her on this.
"But not now, " she said soothingly.
"Your destiny is more than that of a common Slayer.
I feel it in my...your...bones.
Something's coming and it ain't pretty. Lots
of dying still to go."
Glory stood back up and used her arm to fling
her long hair back behind her, and began
brushing with the brush in her other hand.
"You know, "she continued as she sat on the nearest
chair, "You're made pretty much human,
plus a lot of Key. Getting control of you to
morph out wasn't as easy as I had supposed, in spite
of all the spells and anointing. Took a long
time to get here. But do-able. After all, I'm a god."
"Though a bit worn at the edges from your sister's
tricks and that witch-bitch and her lover."
Glory's voice got a bit hard at the memories.
"Tara's dead..." Dawn said from inside Glory.
Glory held out the round brush like a pistol,
"Yeah. Saw that. Well, what you saw. Then the witch-bitch
did a fair imitation of Little Ole Glory. She
failed, too."
"Like me," Glory sounded sad.
Dawn was slowly getting used to this being inside
Glory thing.
"So, " she said carefully, but casually, "You
still need me...need the Key? To go home?"
Glory paused.
She stood up put the brush down on the dresser.
Smiled to see her teeth in the mirror.
Stalling until she composed her answer.
"You're grown up, Dawn." Glory was careful to
use her real name, not Dawnie. "Like I said, y'a
killed a vamp alone back then. First real kisses
and first kill, " she said approvingly.
"You need me?" Dawn persisted.
Glory turned from the mirror so Dawn could no
longer see a reflection thru Glory's eyes.
She saw the room as Glory stalked around it in
her bare feet, touching everything in a discovery
mode. Opening drawers.
She played a bit with a bra she took from one
of the drawers.
Briefly fitting the cups on her over the camisole.
Finally she simply said again, "You've grown,
girl."
"Answer me, Glory..." Dawn prompted.
Glory got back on the bed from the other side.
And sat down cross-legged.
She began talking, somewhat subdued.
"I lied to myself a lot. Without all my powers,
I just ain't that dangerous.
Or clever. Lot you saw was me taking bad advice
and adding my own bad decisions.
Should've been the end of me...in this world
anyway..."
"...almost, except for Plan-B. Rhymes with Key, "she quipped.
"At first, " she rocked a bit on the bed. "I was
just going to steal your body.
Kick you out to fade away. Could have, long ago.
Nice cute girl body. With Key attachments."
"Use it to permanently morph out of... bye-bye
Dawn, forever. Key power could've maybe
given me back a lot of my powers. Eventually."
she spoke rapidly, as she had in the
past when her mind was racing.
Dawn listened and asked, "Why not..."
"Well," Glory closed her eyes...
"Don't..." Dawn immediately protested. "It leaves
me in the dark." She felt disembodied.
"Oh, yeah..." Glory opened her eyes and made
apologetic sounds.
Then, "You're not just your typical vessel. Think
I'd let it slide for all those years like before when I'd
morphed out of Benji? Couldn't even see anything
for all those years. Almost went insane. Did it
finally at night...when he was asleep. Free at
last!'
For the first time Dawn felt a twinge of sympathy for Glory...just a twinge.
Glory resumed her story at her own pace.
"Hated to vacate Ben, but a male's body is no
place for a female god. Think about growing up
and being constrained by male harmones for awhile
- but, " she said happily, "I like my new body
and being a girl!".
"Plus, " she giggled lightly. "I like you. You're
not born of a woman - like me. You're not technically
really human..."
"So," Dawn mind was racing, "You can't go home
again...?"
Glory sighed, "What's the point?" she shrugged
her shoulders.
"Not really... at least not in your body..." Glory said sadly.
"Even though I'm the Key?" Dawn was surprised.
"Key...Schmey - that time is past when I could
use it to open all the portals. I need more power
than just the simple Key..."
Now Dawn was puzzled.
"You're not going to just stay in my body...?,
" she asked hopefully.
"Getting morphed out at the appropriate point.
Took time to set it up so we could have shared senses.
Not like being crammed into baby Ben and going
stark raving mad for years..." she said aloud.
"So you're not just going to steal my body and kill my sister, Buffy?" Dawn interpreted.
"Maybe not. After all she's gonna be my Aunt Buffy,"
Glory laughed deliciously.
Dawn's clever mind put 1 + 1 together and got
3.
"NO!" she screamed, as she realized what Plan-B
was.
"YES!" Glory laughed softly.
Glory held her hands on her bare abdomen.
"yeah, Sweetie. We're pregnant. Parthenogenesis.
Self fertilization. Self-impregnation.
Virgin birth. All that."
Dawn couldn't speak.
"Having my baby..." Glory sang sweetly.
Dawn protested ... weakly.
"It'll only take a few weeks. I've speeded the
baby up a lot. It'll be tough on you.
But I'll help all I can." Glory sounded solicitous.
Dawn felt dizzy.
Something seemed strange in her belly...well...
in Glory's belly...at the moment.
"Buffy''ll kill me before she lets you get a new
body..." Dawn said without much conviction.
"Not so," Glory laughed as she poked at her personal
lack of a navel area.
"I've jumped you up to about where I was when
I was morphed out of Ben's body.
One of the benefits of being in a compatible
female body. You're pretty much invulnerable
now, Sweetie."
"You'll like and you'll need it...soon," Glory said surprisingly.
"Meaning?" Dawn was feeling queasy, though all
her sensations were received from Glory's
senses and Glory's body.
"From beneath, It devours", Glory said, "Or some
such useless mystical crap.
Bad mojo. Slayer babe ain't gonna hack it. Not
the witch-bitch or all the others
luckily still alive here above the Hellmouth."
"Only Little Ole Glory can save your collective
asses..." she became oddly sincere,
as only Glory could be.
"Why?" Dawn struggled to control her swollen feeling.
"Never had a family, " Glory mused aloud. "Never
could kill Buffy, when I should have.
Wasn't really going to bleed you all the way
until you died. Just talk...not needed...'
Dawn got it. "You think of me and Buffy as family..."
"Maybe," Glory was evasive and shy all of a sudden.
Dawn let it sink in, "And I'll be your Mom. The
mother of a god..."
her mind raced at the...sheer breadth of the
idea.
"More, " Glory added.
"More?" Dawn echoed.
"yeah. You got all sorts of Glory-like senses
and powers, and when you wake up this morning
you'll feel 3 months pregnant." Glory said.
Dawn's mind reeled.
"And as you deliver, I'll jump down the umbilical
and into my new god body..."
Dawn was clever, as usual. "What's to keep me
from strangling you as you're born?"
Glory laughed.
"You can't kill your own god-daughter. In a few
quick minutes, I'll be fully morphed in as an adult.
Pretty much full god powers from the start.
Able to vaporize the useless First - What an amateur! -
with a mere god-thought. And save your sister
and your butts." Glory was enthusiastic.
Her voice was reassuring and dreamy again.
Dawn knew she wouldn't. Not her own baby.
"Besides," Glory reminded her, "I'll be your daughter.
Might have to obey my Mommy...
sometimes.
Dawn actually laughed at the thought.
"And I'll be bestow lots of superpowers
on you. As much as you and the Key can absorb
at this time --- more later..."
Dawn let this sift thru her mind, "No more sidelines for me?
Glory made a pixie face unconsciously, "You'll be a near-god supergirl,
Sweetie.
Able to eat Slayers and demons for lunch...without a burp..."
"And I'll be able to fight alongside you to save everyone...?"
Dawn struggled to comprehend all that Glory was throwing at her. It
was overwheming.
Her short life as a real girl was about to take another wild turn.
"Bit much, Hon?" Glory said sympathetically.
:"I'll take care of you...Mom..."
"Mommy dear, "Glory repeated, "Let's go to sleep. When we wake up, I'll
stay inside you
until you explain all this to big sis. Just to be fair!"
"Loads of fun!" Dawn had to laugh at Glory's enthusiasm.
"Buffy'll blow a gasket," Dawn predicted with surprising relish.
"You sure she can't hurt me...us?"
"Now Dawn said sleepily, "Can we talk about Willow...?" Wondering
if Glory really meant what she said about killing her.
"Go to sleep, Sweetie, " Glory said gently. "She surprised me once before.
Not again. Besides, I have you to help me now...and then." Glory was
absolutely
estatic over her initial morph-out success and Dawn's evolving response
to her
plan.
Lots of frustration and more in this Key-girl, Glory observed, One of
the reasons
for her fairly quick success, less than two years, in taking
over.
Dawn slept inside Glory's morphed-out form.
Glory checked one more time on the state of their growing embryo, already
crossing over to fetus stage. A few hours of accelerated growth and
Dawn would
wake up with a baby inside her marching toward full term in about five
weeks,
Glory estimated.
The whole process fascinated Glory.
She did what she thought necessary to ensure that the rapid depletion
of Dawn's
physical resources were augmented by her own godly magic. The irony
of her
actively protecting the Key girl was not lost on the god.
To regain the bulk of her powers, she was totally dependent on this
teenage
girl's body. Best to show her the benefits and power she was to gain.
Plus the
obvious attraction of saving her mostly useless friends and the few
surviving weak
idiot wannabes, as Dawn had sarcastically called them.
Though Buffy...
...Glory realized that Dawn had fallen asleep.
Alone for the moment, Glorificus felt the magical Key blood flowing
in their
body, into the baby via the new umbilical and the rather mysterious
placenta.
It was the only constant that Dawn and she would share as Glory morphed
out.
Their uterus.
Their Key blood and god blood melded together in their placenta. To
pass
whatever the baby needed, including, Glory was happy to sense, the
godly portions
of her godness.
[Ed- This Glory in this dimension
is pretty much on her own. She has no idea that the
'godly portions' of her are god-DNA. Only that the baby must be god-compatible.
God-DNA, natural & artificial, was not identified and so-named until
the Roswell Rose
Tess discovered it in examining herself, the Sukkhal Twins and
those met and
touched in Roswell and Sunnydale (see "Blood Road").
Clare
took the basic information
and used it during her last trimester to help her morphing Glory Hall
ensure
that
their god-girl was totally compatible. Clare did not conceive of a quick
pregnancy, nor a post-birth
morphing-out for their Gloriana, preferring to raise her as a 'normal'
girl until 16, when the adult
Glory Hall, hidden within the girl, would join her, and their personalities
and memories
would become one. As would their powers. This would prove to be a crucial
decision
on Clare's part, for it led to their move thru Glorificus' portal
to Glory's Palace on Glory's
faster time rate world. Which led to her progressing to a supergod
and becoming the
Queen of the ever-expanding Pantheon, as "Our
Story" and later Works chronicle.]
Glory softly, and reluctantly, morphed out, or back in, whatever the
term was, she
thought.
Giving Dawn her body back.
Then she joined Dawn in their first knowing sleep together.
Dawn's eyes opened into the near dark room.
She'd had a horrible dream.
She felt stiff and bloated.
Starving.
"Oh, God, " she gasped.
She was slightly swollen in her panties.
And had to pee something fierce.
She started to get up, feeling swellings elsewhere also, especially
in her
boobs. Which hurt. She moved quickly...so fast she she blurred.
Crashing
into the far wall by the door in what seemed like only one step.
Looking down, Dawn discovered that she'd rammed her hand thru the wall
up to her wrist. Breaking a 2 X 4 stud in the process.
No pain.
No cuts.
No blood.
And she could see in the dark like it was daylight.
"You'll get used to it," the dream voice told her.
"Not a dream," Dawn poked at the splintered wood with her finger.
It all came flooding back to her.
"Nope," the voice inside her said cheerfully.
Being rather resilient and practical, Dawn had other more immediate
needs. Not bothering to put on her nearby robe, she opened the door
and
blurred down the hall to the bathroom.
Not running into the wall this time.
As she sat and peed long, she had her first realization that she was
apparently
three months pregnant - really!. Overnight. She felt her boobs thru
the camisole.
They were indeed larger, swollen and her nipples hurt.
